weight loss programs have mushroomed because of the rising demand for such programs. Being overweight or obese is one of the biggest health problems that people face today. The primary reason for this is our eating habits and lifestyle. With advancement in technology, our daily work is not that strenuous as it was a few decades ago. Instead of eating fresh fruits, vegetables and cereals, we have started consuming more packaged and junk foods that are high in salt, sugar and
fat content.
Besides this there are also some medical reasons for being overweight. A good
weight loss program should combine the benefits of both exercise and proper
diet. It is advised that you should refrain from
dieting and pills that claim to reduce your
weight in a very short time.
Weight loss should occur gradually over a period of time. Most of
weight loss programs that promise to reduce your
weight in few days are not good for your health. In certain cases, it has been observed that the person quickly regains the
weight once the treatment is over. Such quick treatments can also be bad for your health.
A Simple Weight Loss Program That You Can Start Yourself
Diet: You should refrain from all junk food. You should not eat foods high in

sodium, fats and sugars. Instead you should eat fresh fruits, vegetables, cereals and grains. Learn to make low calorie recipes so that you do not miss tasty and delicious food while losing
weight. You should eat small meals at regular intervals and make sure you chew your food properly. It is also advisable not to eat to your full appetite. Last, but not the least, do not forget to include all the required vitamins, minerals and other nutrients in the required amounts in your
diet.
Exercise: Start exercising daily or at least four times in a week. If you have never exercised before, it is better to start with walking. You can start by walking 30 minutes daily. As you develop your stamina, you can increase your speed and time. Gradually, you should also include other exercises in your routine.
Changes in lifestyle: You should make some changes in your lifestyle that are good for your overall health. Do not be a slave to technology. Try to incorporate a few positive changes every day. The process should be gradual but steady. Some of the simple changes that you can go for are:
• Use the staircase instead of elevator or escalator.
• Always walk when you have to travel short distances.
• Go out shopping instead of buying on the Internet.
• Do not eat while watching television.
• Instead of watching TV and surfing the Internet in your spare time, play outdoor games or join dance classes.
It is better to consult your doctor before undergoing any
weight loss program. If you are not able to lose
weight even after following the abovementioned tips, seek medical advice.
